The Land of the Dalai Lama - McLeodGanj

Mission Kashmir!

The smell of pine trees greet you as you emerge from Sringar Airport.  Dal Lake from the Shikara boat.  My boatman in the background is a young man with  a sharp wit with woes for the plight of young unemployed youth in Kashmir like him. The Shikara he says only keeps him busy in the tourist season, otherwise he's jobless. Asks me whether it's a good idea to buy a laptop.  Me on the shikara. :)   Gondola ride on Dal Lake. Mussoorie the Queen of the Hills; And the Inimitable Ruskin Bond

The cable car looks exotic with Mussoorie in the background.  With Ruskin Bond at the book store in Musssoorie owned by him.  My favourite is " The Eyes Have It " -  My journalist brother who was also there to interview the grand old man for his magazine. Finally, Ruskin Bond obliged me with his personal autograph. My name in his scrawl. :-)
